Growing Roots.
"Imizi Myiza" means "Good Roots" in Kinyarwanda. The families we come from shape the families we become. This program is where that cycle changes.

What Is IMIZI MYIZA?
Imizi Myiza is a 10-week, cohort-based parenting and family strengthening program for parents, caregivers, and grandparents who want to show up differently for the children in their care.
We don't teach perfect parenting — because perfect parents don't exist. We teach present parenting: how to regulate your own emotions so you can respond to your child's, how to discipline without breaking trust, and how to create a home where children feel safe enough to grow.
All facilitation is grounded in trauma-informed approaches — recognizing that how we parent is often shaped by what we ourselves experienced, and that change is possible at any stage of life.
"You don't need to be in crisis to join. Many come simply wanting to be better — and that is more than enough."
Who Is This For?
Parents of children of any age
Grandparents or extended family raising children
Foster parents and caregivers
Couples preparing for parenthood
Single parents navigating the journey alone
Program Details
The Journey
How your upbringing shapes your parenting instincts; rewriting patterns that don't serve your children
Tools for managing stress, anger, and overwhelm before they spill onto those you love
How to speak so children listen, and listen so children speak
Moving from punishment to guidance: boundaries that build character, not fear
Rituals, rhythms, and habits that make your home a place of safety and joy
"I grew up in a home where discipline meant pain. I swore I would be different — but kept repeating the same patterns. Imizi Myiza helped me understand why, and gave me real tools to change. My children now run to me instead of away from me."
— IMIZI MYIZA Graduate, Kigali
After the Program
Graduates join the EFC alumni community with access to annual refresher sessions, peer support networks, and priority enrollment in the URUGO Couples program.
Many participants say the friendships formed in their cohort outlast the program itself. Imizi Myiza is not a lecture series — it is a community.
Contribution
A sliding-scale contribution is requested. No family is turned away due to inability to pay. Bursaries are available — speak with our team.
